Maine Cycling Club members at 2009 Dempsey Challenge

Oct 4, 2009 marked the inaugural Dempsey Challenge to raise funds for the Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope & Healing. 3500 runners, walkers and cyclists raised funds and participated in this event despite cloudy skies and the threat of rain.
In addition to Patrick Dempsey, Pro riders Ted King, George Hincapie, David Zabriskie and former Pro Stephen Roche were on hand for the event. There were many photo opportunities for fans and media long the way.
Maine Cycling Club had 70 riders (the 3rd largest) and raised over 13,000 for the event. Next year, we're striving for MORE riders and MORE money for the Dempsey Center!

About our Club

Our club focuses on recreational group riding. Our goal is to attract cyclists of all abilities to experience the benefits of group riding, learn more about the sport and enjoy the rural scenery of Maine.
